New sodas and weird brakes

It was interesting to have our first visitor to Greece this week. We did all the typical sight-seeing, but we also took him out to the Jumbo. You haven’t experienced Athens until you’ve experienced The Jumbo. The Jumbo Experience, if you will, is like if the Dollar Store and Walmart had a baby set to crazy circus music. Fun for all ages!

While we were there, I made some interesting observations, specifically about… you guessed it…soda and brakes.

We puzzled over this one a bit. Green Cola? Like eco-friendly soda? Was it actually green in color? No. Upon closer inspection, we determined green = diet. Not a big fan of diet, so I’ll pass.

This, on the other hand, is just like the label says. Great! Tastes a bit like RC Cola. A nice alternative to Coke.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t most bikes for small children in the US come with pedal brakes? Every single bike at the Jumbo, even the teeny tiny ones, had hand brakes. It makes a certain amount of sense, teaching your child just one set of brakes. But I’m not sure how easy it would be for a three or four-year-old to squeeze. Certainly not Liam…though maybe Violet. She is one tough chick.

Lest I forget, we also cooked up that okra I bought at the Laiki. The pods were super tiny and super prickly, so it was kind of a pain in the ass to prepare. I used corn flour and creole seasoning instead of fish fry, and it came out tasting great. Sadly, I probably won’t bother cooking it again anytime soon. Violet is making it almost impossible for me to stand at the stove for any length of time, so take-out is usually what’s on the menu these days.
