The Temple of Zeus

We spent the day at the Ancient Agora, still couldn’t get into the Roman Agora (this time just closed early for the day. Because Greece!), but to me the most impressive outing of the day was the Temple of Zeus. There’s less of it standing than the Parthenon, but what remains is massive. I had no idea it would be that big. Liam had gone there on a field trip, so he was our resident expert. I asked him to tell me about the temple. First: No food is allowed. Second: A column got knocked down by an earthquake. Third: The bathrooms are down that way. You know…the important stuff. Then he conjectured that much more of the temple was standing way back in 1982, when I was a just kid. Which apparently was a VERY long time ago. Yep, sounds about right.
